Centralized Passenger Screening project

A simpler security experience

The Centralized Passenger Screening project will consolidate three separate security screening points for domestic passengers into one location in the Domestic Terminal building. Passengers on all domestic flights out of YYC will pass through this preboarding checkpoint. Each lane will be equipped with CATSA+ CT X-Ray screening equipment, which provides an advanced 3D scan of baggage contents, so passengers will keep laptops, medical devices, and permitted liquids, aerosols and gels in carry-on luggage throughout the screening process.

Accessibility at the centre

Our partners at Dialog have helped design the new security area using universal principles for accessibility, reducing barriers to travel for passengers of all abilities, including apparent and non-apparent disabilities. It will include quiet areas, dedicated queues, space to breathe, an accessibility hub and plenty of help along the way.

Capacity: Plenty of room to grow

We’re building a scalable screening operation that can expand to accommodate an expected 40% increase in passenger flow within ten years.

The first phase of Centralized Screening will accommodate capacity of 1,800 to 1,980 passengers per hour through nine lanes.

Timeline

  • Early 2026           Centralized Screening opens with seven passenger lanes
