YYC partners with Switch Health to launch new COVID-19 testing service

In-house testing clinic enables safe travel by offering results before you fly

CALGARY– The Calgary Airport Authority today announced a partnership with Switch Health to provide a COVID-19 testing clinic at YYC Calgary International Airport (YYC).

As an extension to the #FlyHealthyYYC program, which was accredited by the Airports Council International for maintaining safe facilities, Switch Health will improve access to COVID-19 tests for YYC passengers and airport workers.

“With travel regulations and requirements continuing to evolve, the Authority is responding with innovative changes designed to improve safety and efficiency at YYC by putting our guests at the heart of every decision,” said Rob Palmer, Vice President, Commercial, Strategy & Chief Financial Officer at The Calgary Airport Authority.

PCR COVID-19 tests are available with standard 12-24 hour turnaround times, and rapid antigen test results are available within 30-60 minutes. Travellers are encouraged to learn about the requirements for their destination country and book an appointment in advance.

Pre-departure tests are currently required for entry to most other countries around the world, including the United States which now requires Canadians travelling by air to get a COVID-19 test no later than 24-hours before their departure.

Switch Health has been at the forefront of Canada's fight against COVID-19, providing at-home and mobile COVID-19 testing services at airports and ports of entry across the country.

“We are proud to partner with The Calgary Airport Authority to offer convenient pre-departure testing solutions that travellers can use to enter almost any country,” said Dilian Stoyanov, Chief Executive Officer at Switch Health. “We are very excited to be expanding our services across Canada, giving Canadians better access to testing services so they can get back to their favourite activities, like international travel, safely.”

The new testing clinic is now located on the departures level of the domestic terminal. The clinic now operates from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

The new departures-level clinic operates separately from the services that Switch Health administers on behalf of the Public Health Agency of Canada’s border testing program for guests arriving from international destinations.
