The Calgary Airport Authority welcomes WestJet’s new service to Japan and expansion to Europe Monday, December 5, 2022 | Catgories: News Release Calgary, AB – The Calgary Airport Authority is proud to support WestJet’s wider growth strategy which introduces new 787 Dreamliner routes from YYC Calgary International Airport to Tokyo, Japan. In addition, the airline is creating greater two-way tourism opportunities and increasing connectivity between Western Canada and Europe with the new service between Calgary and Barcelona, Spain and Edinburgh, Scotland along with increased frequencies on existing European routes. Today’s announcement by WestJet builds upon the October 2022 partnership agreement between the WestJet Group and the Government of Alberta, which included a commitment by WestJet to make YYC Calgary International Airport its single global hub airport. Working with WestJet as the strategic airline partner of The Calgary Airport Authority greatly enhances air connectivity from YYC, which is key to unlocking the economic potential of our city, our province and of Canada.
